Queerkeit Incubators is a network of writing groups where people can connect, collaborate and create the type of Jewish queer content they wish they had access to while they were navigating their journeys. This is a meeting of the minds, bringing the right people together. This is not a support group. This is where powerful, positive, and optimistic voices can move the conversation forward - and have a great deal of fun along the way.

Site Update (Jan. 2026)

Our site is undergoing some renovations, and will soon include an online journal, general great Queer Jewish content, and ways to get involved. So make sure to come back soon.

Queerkeit Incubators is a national network of Jewish Queer writing groups, launching communal hubs in cities across the country, bringing creators together to craft the content we wish we had when growing up. Together, these artists are manifesting the representation we craved, sharing stories we thought we were alone in, and imagining a future together that lifts our hopes, an act that itself is a step towards making these dreams come true.

Beginning as small groups in the summer of 2023, we have grown to include hubs in Philadelphia, Los Angeles, and New York. Groups meet once a month for six months working on publishable content spanning a variety of mediums and released in varying forums and methods, and then gather for a national retreat in the summer where they get to share their work and coalesce into a growing communal movement. After two successful years, plans are underway to publish the content made so far and imagining the year ahead.

Our Story… So Far

Retreat Testimonials

“Thank you so much for running this. I am very grateful that spaces like this exist, and it feels great to be a part of a community that understands you, especially when you thought you might never find that place.”

-  G,23

“I'm not sure I've ever been as comfortable as I was around this size group. That feels very special, and excites me for what kind of community I can live in in the future”

 - A. 25

“One of the best things I've ever done. A shabbat I didn't imagine was possible in my wildest dreams! The chance to experience a group of queer people dedicated to their yiddishkeit (Jewishness) was a year-highlight for me.”

- Sarah, 30

“The people I met at QI are not only exceptional writers, but brilliant thinkers and great friends. QI has helped me connect with the Jewish community I was searching for in my city, even though that wasn't necessarily the aim of the program. [They’re] creating a cohort of Jews who are redefining what it means to be queer and Jewish.”

- Antonia, 32

“Having the support to create work I've always wanted to make touching on how Jewish and queer identity interact while having a cohort of friends investigating those same questions has been a joy and a gift.”

- David, 27

Writing Group Testimonials

Background

What started as an unassuming writing group, quickly transformed into a collection of co-conspirators, an unimaginable think-tank of the most vibrant and relevant voices. We were creating the content we desperately sought when we were growing up, and more importantly we were envisioning the future we wanted to live in. Simply articulating these ideas seemed to breathe life into the very world we thought an impossibility. And by creating this work together, we are becoming the community we have always been seeking.

Program

Participants will receive a stipend to participate in 6 sessions, meeting once a month, working on a piece that they would strive to share more widely. Writing advisors and editors will be assisting, and the program includes a National Writers Retreat bringing together all of the writing groups from around the country. Our ideal writers are queer Jews that have found an integration of their queer and Jewish selves. Their personal practices may vary widely, but they will have insight into how to speak to traditional communities due to their obvious engagement with Jewish values.
